Description
Garmin International is pleased to announce the GPSMAP 498
Sounder. This new chartplotter includes dual frequency, full-featured sonar
and built-in marine detail charts of the United States coastline, including
Alaska and Hawaii – utilizing elements of Garmin’s new BlueChart
g2technology. These charts provide integrated maps for a much smoother
presentation. BlueChart g2 has all the detail of traditional BlueChart, but
with 3D perspective, and richer detail and content – data like tides and
currents overlaid on the chart. Other chart features include shaded depth
contours, port plans, wrecks, restricted areas, and more. The GPSMAP 498 can
also be supplemented with BlueChart g2 preprogrammed data cards providing
extremely detailed marine charts, including highly detailed roads, points of
interest, high quality color photos for the U.S ports, marinas, and more.
The GPSMAP 492C or 498C give you the cartography you need to venture
offshore. These versatile units come ready to launch with preloaded marine
map detail utilizing the new BlueChart® g2 technology. Coverage is for U.S.
coastal areas, including Alaska and Hawaii. Features include integrated
mapping, 2D or 3D map perspective, tide and current data, improved IALA
symbols, navaids, marinas, boat ramps, roads, and more. Both units accept
preprogrammed data cards for loading additional map coverage of inland lakes
or BlueChart® detail for other regions. And the GPSMAP 498C’s built-in
500-watt (RMS) sounder features Ultrascroll™ for high-speed screen updates,
with the proprietary Garmin CANet™ bus enabling sounder display information
to be shared with, and controlled from, another chartplotter on your boat.
